Expansion Update 5/22/2015

Plattsburgh International Airport is still working on phase II of its $55 Million Dollar expansion.  We are excited to share with you this week’s news and updates about the expansion.

Here’s what has happened:
  • Work continued on the foundation and frame work in the entrance area. This work will allow for the creation of two front entrances with an elevator, stairs and escalators in between, giving passengers access to the second floor.
  • Departure terminal construction continued as the crew begins to tie together the old structure with the new, an integral part for making a seamless transition.
What you can expect next:
  • Demolition will be done on the windows located on the south side of the airport. This demolition will allow the old departure terminal to tie into the new departure terminal.
  • Roofing work will continue as the construction crew ties together the old structure with the new, an integral part for making a seamless transition.
 Tidbits to Remember:
  • Passengers please be aware that the inner two lanes leading to the terminal entrance, closest to the building, are blocked off. The roadway is being excavated to install a new drainage area and will not be reopened until October 2015. Walkways will be marked for use.
  • June 22 – June 26 NYS DOT will be working on Route 22 from the City of Plattsburgh to the Salmon River Road, this work will result in lane closures during the day. Passengers should expect possible delays and plan accordingly.
  • Also, please pardon the noise during this phase of construction. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Airport Staff or Police Office on duty.
